Great device - software application needs improvement.

First off, the watch is excellent. All the sensors work well, it looks stylish and unintrusive whilst providing all the security of real-time monitoring. The telephony works extremely well in both receiving calls and sending S.O.S messages. Call clarity is exceptionally good for such a small device.
The ability to set up "Safe Zones" is invaluable.
The watch can be configured to notify up to three people (phone numbers) in case of a fall or the S.O.S. button being activated. The watch will automatically dial the first number on the list and cycle through to the others if the preceding one doesn't answer.
The best part is that it also automatically sends an SMS to all three numbers with a map link to the wearer's location.
You can also set the watch to answer calls automatically, so the wearer doesn't have to struggle with it if they are incapable.
MedAlert's website has an easy-to-understand step-by-step guide to most functions.
All that being said, the Se Tracker app is not for the novice. It is quite involved and needs to be meticulously configured if you want to make use of the health monitoring functions.
The app also needs to have certain permissions granted from your phone in order for it to function properly and this will vary from phone to phone and OS to OS.
Although the S.O.S map links in my experience have always been accurate to within literally meters, the random tracker can sometimes be as much as a kilometer off the mark.
There are other irks, probably personal preference issues more than anything but on the whole, a pleasant purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens when I press the SOS button?

As soon as you press and hold the SOS button, the MedAlert Watch will call the 24/7 Emergency Response team. You’ll be connected to a trained operator through the watch’s built-in speaker and mic. They’ll know who you are, where you are (thanks to GPS), and what your personalised emergency plan is. They can call your emergency contacts or dispatch an ambulance if needed.

What happens if I fall and become unconscious?

If the watch detects a hard fall and you don’t respond to the on-screen alert, it’ll automatically send out an SOS. That means the Emergency Response team is contacted without you needing to press anything. They’ll assess the situation based on your location and response plan, and take action even if you’re not able to speak or move. It’s built specifically for those worst-case moments.

What exactly is included in the MedAlert Safety Bundle?

You get the MedAlert 4G Personal Medical Alarm Watch with GPS, a Telstra SIM pre-installed with 12 months of voice/data, and a full year of access to the 24/7 Emergency Response Call Centre.

How does the fall detection feature work?

The watch automatically picks up on sudden drops or sharp movements that suggest a fall. If it detects one, it’ll show an alert on screen and give you the option to cancel or call for help. If you don’t respond, it can trigger an emergency call.

Who answers the emergency calls?

Trained professionals from the MedAlert emergency response team take the call. They’re based in Australia and available 24/7, ready to follow your personal emergency plan or get in touch with emergency services if needed.

Can I use this outside the house?

Absolutely. The watch works anywhere in Australia with Telstra 4G coverage, so you’re protected at home, at the shops, in the garden, or out walking the dog.

Do I need a mobile phone to use the watch?

Nope. The watch has its own SIM and works independently. You don’t need to pair it with a smartphone or carry one around.

Is the MedAlert watch waterproof?

It’s water-resistant, so it’ll be fine with a bit of rain or hand washing or showering. But it’s not made for swimming, so best to take it off for that.

Can I update or change my emergency contacts later on?

Yes, easily. You can contact MedAlert support to update your emergency contacts or tweak your response plan at any time.

What happens after the 12 months is up?

You’ll get the option to renew both the SIM plan ($75) and the Emergency Response subscription ($345) for a further 12 months. No lock-in contracts or surprises.

Does the watch tell the time like a normal watch?

It sure does. It works as a regular digital watch, with the bonus of all the safety features built in.

Who is this bundle suited for?

It’s ideal for older Australians, people living with medical conditions, or anyone who wants an extra layer of security in their daily routine.
