Which MedAlert
Watch is right for you?

Both of our medical alert watches call for help at the press of a button, detect falls automatically, and share live GPS location with the people who matter most.

The differences come down to size, location accuracy, and the platform behind the watch. This page walks you through it in plain language, so you can choose with confidence.

Choose the MedAlert Lite if:

Choose the MedAlert Lite if:

  • The wearer is comfortable with a classic watch on their wrist
  • You want proven, dependable safety at the best price
  • Automatic heart rate alerts matter to you, with notifications when readings pass a set threshold
  • The wearer would enjoy choosing between 4 colours
Choose the MedAlert PLUS if:

Choose the MedAlert PLUS if:

  • The wearer has a small wrist, sensitive skin, or finds most watches heavy. At 28 grams, in premium materials, the PLUS is barely noticeable
  • Precise location matters. The PLUS pinpoints the wearer to within 2 metres, which can mean the difference between 'somewhere in the park' and 'beside the bench near the north gate'. The wearer likes to rotate between brooch, watch and lanyard options
  • The wearer lives or spends time in areas with patchy mobile signal. The upgraded GSM module holds a connection where standard devices struggle
  • You want the MedAlert Guardian platform: AI health insights, shared access for family and carers, and direct Emergency Response Centre connection to the watch
  • You are a care provider managing more than one wearer. Guardian handles multiple watches from a single login

The Best Safety Device Is The One That Actually Gets Worn

Ask any care manager and they will tell you the same thing: the biggest risk with any alarm is the drawer. A device that feels heavy, looks clinical or irritates the skin ends up on the bedside table, and a watch on the bedside table cannot detect a fall in the garden.

The MedAlert PLUS was designed around that truth. It is smaller and slimmer than the Lite, finished in premium materials, and at 28 grams it is the lightest 4G medical alert watch in Australia. It also comes with three ways to wear it in the box. Watch on the wrist. Pendant on a lanyard. Brooch clipped to a cardigan. Whatever the wearer will genuinely keep on, day after day.

The MedAlert Lite is a classic watch design that thousands of Australians wear happily every day, in the colour they picked themselves. For plenty of wearers, familiar is exactly right.

A easy to use platform behind the watch

The MedAlert PLUS connects to MedAlert Guardian, our cloud platform built specifically for managing medical alert watches. Guardian runs in any web browser with nothing to install, and it changes what the watch can do for the people around the wearer:

  • AI health insights. Guardian watches heart rate and activity trends over weeks and months, and flags changes worth raising with a doctor, long before they become an emergency
  • Shared access for the whole care circle. A daughter in Sydney, a son in Perth and a support worker in between can all see the same live information and share the load
  • Direct Emergency Response Centre connection. With the optional 24/7 monitoring plan, professional operators connect straight to the watch through Guardian, seeing location, battery and health data the moment an alert fires
  • Full remote management. Contacts, alert settings and fall sensitivity all adjustable from any browser, without touching the watch

The MedAlert Lite is managed through the MedAlert mobile app, which covers the everyday needs of most families: live location, alerts and settings, with multiple family members on the one account.

A easy to use platform behind the watch

In an emergency, metres matter

When a fall alert fires, the first question is always the same: where exactly are they? The MedAlert PLUS carries a high-precision GPS module accurate to within 2 metres. For a responder, that is the difference between a suburb block and a spot on the footpath.

The PLUS also carries an upgraded GSM module that holds a stronger connection in low-signal areas: inside brick homes, in lift wells, in regional towns at the edge of coverage. A safety device is only as good as its connection, and the PLUS keeps one where standard devices drop out.

The same premium approach extends to health monitoring, with upgraded optical sensors delivering more accurate heart rate readings that feed straight into Guardian's health insights.

The MedAlert Lite offers reliable GPS positioning and heart rate monitoring with automatic threshold alerts on the Telstra 4G network, dependable protection that has served thousands of wearers well.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I am still not sure which watch to choose. What do most people do?

A: If the wearer will happily wear a standard watch and price matters, families choose the Lite. If the wearer is frail, has a small wrist, prefers a pendant or brooch, or several people will share the caring, families choose the PLUS. If you are torn, call us on 02 7227 5833 and we will help you decide.

Q: Do both watches include the SIM plan?

A: Yes. Both watches include their first 12 months of Telstra SIM data and voice in the purchase price. From the second year, the Lite plan renews at $75 per year and the PLUS at $85 per year, which reflects the PLUS's Guardian platform connection and higher data use. No lock-in contract on either.

Q: Is the 24/7 Emergency Response Centre available on both watches?

A: Yes. The optional plan is $345 per year on either watch. Trained operators answer every SOS and fall alert around the clock, speak with the wearer through the watch, and escalate to family or emergency services as needed.

Q: Does the wearer need a smartphone?

A: No. Both watches work completely independently with their own built-in 4G connection. The app and portal are for family members and carers.

Q: Can I switch from one watch to the other?

A: Within the first 30 days, yes. Our return policy lets you change your mind, and our team will help move everything across.

Q: Can the watch be funded through an NDIS plan or My Aged Care?

A: Yes, both watches are regularly purchased through NDIS, My Aged Care and DVA funding. Use the quote request on this page or call us and we will prepare the paperwork.
